Best Australian Christmas Decorations in 2018
Best Australian Christmas Decorations 2018: Looking for festive, Australian themed decorations to put under your Christmas tree that don’t feature snowmen, snowflakes, rugged up teddy bears or children with mittens in the snow?
We understand it can be difficult finding decorations appropriate for our Australian climate that are tasteful and fun, not tacky and cheap.
It’s so annoying how all the shops, every year, play to the same beat of a winter Christmas theme.
But here at I Still Call Australia Home we say ‘No more!!!!’.
To support the Australian Christmas movement, we’ve pulled together our top favourite best (!) Australian Christmas Decorations this festive Season to warm your hearts just as much as our sizzling summer heat.
If you’re sending them overseas to a cold climate we’re sure they will be most appreciated.
You must check out #9 – Bob and Barb Koala ornaments too – they are our most popular.
#1. Best Aussie Christmas Baubles – La La Land “Sleepy Animals” Gift Set of 6 Baubles
This set of 6 baubles is called the ‘Aussie Animals Xmas Ornaments’.
They are illustrated by Lilly Perrott and Carmen Hui respectively.
They come in a gorgeous keepsake box featuring Australian themed scenes and are available for pre-order!
(last year we sold out well before Christmas).
The ornaments themselves feature your favourite Aussie Animals including the Kangaroo, Koala, Kookaburra, Wombat, Platypus, and 2 sweet Christmas Cockatoos.
And there’s even more designs to choose from this year!
They’re all so cute it’s actually tricky to decide which one to get.
And even harder… when they arrive, if you’re giving them for gifts… how are you going to part with them?! (we recommend getting doubles for yourself btw).

(not a snowflake in sight).
What’s not to love about our sweet, furry little friends?
You may also like the smaller version.
It’s 9cm in diameter and features a peach background with the same loveable koalas and gum-nuts.
#3. ‘You Beaut’ Ute’ decoration
It doesn’t get much more true blue than a red Aussie ute.
In fact, did you know Australia’s ute is so popular, that there’s a national festival – the Deni Ute Muster – to celebrate it, in Deniliquin NSW.
It’s been going since 1999 and now attracts over 20,000 people every year.
This fun decoration is made of tin, and features a Christmas tree on the back with Native Australian birds.
The same design is on both sides fo the decoration.
It looks pretty awesome hanging on a green or white Christmas tree branch.
#4. Best Australian Christmas Decorations – Kookaburra in a Teacup Metal Christmas Ornament
Similar to #3 on our list, this Kookaburra in a Teacup Christmas decoration is made of metal.
It is double-sided and features a kookaburra sleeping in a teacup.
It is inspired by the artwork of Renee Treml who has created this work for our friends at La La Land.
Her illustrations are created on both a traditional sketchbook and in digital medium.
Her goal with them is to capture the animal’s personality ‘with humour and grace’.
We think she’s done a pretty good job!

#6. Best Australian Christmas Decorations – Mugs and Trays
These Christmas mugs and trays are not as traditional as baubles and Christmas tree ornaments; but we think they’re equally as fun!
This set on the left is the latest Koala Legend design from our friends at La La Land that features a koala in a bonds singlet shirt that says ‘Legend’.
A bit tongue in cheek for the legend in your family.
What would be your Christmas drink and treat you’d have in this mug and tray set?
